Shipping to USA Temporarily Suspended aka Trump's Troublesome Tariff Trainwreck

OK, let's not get too political here - but this post is to advise that shipping to USA is being suspended while the whole world clumsily navigates the whims of one complete and utter bellend and his equally bellendish cohorts.

As Trump's tariffs come into effect on 29th August, Royal Mail, DHL, UPS and a whole raft of other courier companies have now informed the general public that they have absolutely no idea as to to how they will deal with the incoming tariffs - and as such, have suspended parcel services to the United Sates as a result.

As far as I understand it, Royal Mail, with whom most of my orders are shipped using, need to implement functionality that allows the merchant to pay the tariffs via RM's systems prior to the goods being received at US customs, to allow the goods to pass through with minimal fuss, and not have any nasty surprises for the recipient after they place, and pay for the order.

Given Royal Mail's track record of delivering tech solutions, I have no idea how long this will take them, or if it will work once rolled-out, but knowing them as I do, it will probably involve some kind of hamster-powered abacus device that only works between 7am and 9am every third Tuesday - but, I foolishly live in hope for something more 21st Century to be forthcoming.

In the interim, I can only offer my apologies to my USA-based customers, and hope to be in a position to start shipping there again soon.

Roll on 2029 (I think).
