Four long years...

Some folk may have (and many probably haven’t) wondered where 7th Storey Projects — both the labels and the shop — disappeared to over the last few years.

Well, to be perfectly honest, life just went kind of sideways for a while back there. A few curveballs came along in the form of illness, bereavement, new babies, studying and other vocational commitments, and after well over a decade of going full throttle in the scene, I hit the brakes for a bit music-wise. Needed a breather, basically — and, yeah, it ended up being a long one - four years in this case.

To anyone left scratching their heads at the sudden vanishing act — don’t take it personally. Sometimes you’ve just got to step back and figure a few things out - not sure how effectively I've done that, time will tell I suppose.

Anyway, fast forward (or rewind?) to January 2025 — a friend asked me about some old 7th Storey bits, and before I knew it, I was knee-deep in records and good memories. A few misty-eyed hours later and the spark was back. Seems I’m easily swayed by a bit of nostalgia and a few wafts of acetate.

I then got thinking about how abruptly stopping all involvement with the scene wasn't the way I wanted to go out, so I'm back like a turd that won’t flush, and I'm hopefully going to take a few of you along with me on the ride (minus the turd, all being well).

The 7th Storey Projects shop is back open (you’ve probably gathered that already seeing as you're here). We’re keeping it small to start with — only shipping UK orders only for now (really sorry overseas crew, it will only be temporary, I promise!). I'm just taking baby steps back into it for a while.

Although there won't be any new 7th Storey Projects releases just yet, there are some pretty exciting plans in the pipeline that we’re just trying to dot i's and cross t's on - so hopefully it won't be too long.

I’ve spent a month or two investigating how much the game’s changed — manufacturing, shipping, prices — all a bit of a headmash in the post-Brexit sh*tshow along with the general J.G. Ballard vibes going on in the world now, to be honest. So bear with me while I figure out the smoothest path forward in this weird new landscape.

It’s good to be back. I’ve already caught up with a few old friends I ghosted, and I’m looking forward to reconnecting with more of you — and maybe even meeting some new heads along the way.
