Five Of The Best Reissues Of 2025!
Share
As 2025 draws to a close, I thought I'd have a quick run down of five of the best jungle/hardcore reissues of the year - which has, in all fairness, been another cracking year for re-released golden oldies, as well as some previously unreleased gems finally seeing the light of day.
All opinions are my own, you might disagree with some or all of them - and that's just dandy!

1. Tango & Fallout - Revelations (Creative Wax)
A don-daddy of a holy grail of an unreleased tune prior to April 2025 - as with most of these selections, there's not much that can be said that hasn't been said before about the original mix of 'Revelations' - suffice to say that it was 30 years overdue a release in physical-format, and all credit to the team at Creative Wax who did a bang-up job with this one - it looks, feels and sounds beautiful - backed up with EOA's wicked remix, it's a must for anyone who loves their beats very broken.
Thank you Tango (RIP) & Fallout :-)
2. FBD Project - The Core / Breakin' Up (Bang 'In Tunes)
You know the one, it's really dark and goes 'weeeee' and 'wooooo' a lot, about half way through - yeah, you know the one.
Hardly a controversial or original statement, but this 12" ranks highly amongst my favourites of all time - 'The Core' is deceptively simple, but in this case, simplicity touches on genius.
We've been hearing this played out for over 30 years - and it has NEVER lost it's devastating impact on the dance, and likely never will.
I'd also always wondered why Breakin' Up had never been re-issued, but that's academic now, because here it is - it's one of those rare tracks that clocks in at over 9 minutes, and never loses my undivided attention for a fraction of a second.
The repress sounds sharp as a tack, especially when compared to the charmingly muddy original press.
A foundational classic of proto-jungle, without a shadow of a doubt.
3. Skanna - Heaven EP (Skanna)
The overwhelming majority of Skanna's back catalogue has seen represses over the last 10-15 years or so - but the 'Heaven EP' was a glaring exception, until October this year.
Three tracks of prime, trademark Skanna, by turns dark, haunting, beautiful and ruff as f*ck.
4. Mega City 2 - Nightwalker (Kniteforce Records)
I could never put my finger on exactly why, but much of Mega City 2's small-yet-perfectly-formed output has always sat very high atop my list of personal favourites, the intro to Nightwalker used to be my ringtone (remember them?) back in the day.
I don't lose too much sleep over why that is, nor do I particularly care if anyone thinks it's a bit weird!
Anyhoo - Kniteforce got their hands on MC2's back catalogue and gave it a ruddy good re-release this year - on a 7-disc box set (Alien Zoo), and now available as singles.
Nightwalker is fractionally my favourite EP of them all (sorry Demons By Daylight) - but it's great to see them all get a bit of 2020's polish - and the retention of the original artwork is a nice touch too.
Essential, especially if, like me, you're a bit weird.
5. DJ Fokus & DJ Stardust - The Theme / Disengaged (Vinyl Fanatiks)
Another huge personal favourite of mine (hence it's inclusion on this list) - Fokus' output in the early to mid 1990's was (imo) hard to touch, and his partnership with Pete Parsons created countless formidable, and memorable tunes.
The standout here is 'Disengaged' - an insane seven minute ride that you can't get off, even if you wanted to!
RIP DJ Stardust - thank you for the beats!
That's yer lot - thank you for all your support in 2025, see you in 2026!
Simon
